Can a DNA test nudge you to prevent a heart attack?
NCT ID NCT07260552
Summary
This study aims to see if adding a genetic risk score to standard heart disease check-ups helps patients and doctors in everyday clinics make better decisions about starting preventive medication. Researchers will enroll 200 adults without heart disease from one rural and one urban clinic. Half will see their standard risk score, while the other half will see a score that also includes their genetic risk, to see if this changes who decides to start a cholesterol-lowering statin.
