Tiny heart device trial tests safer shock delivery
NCT ID NCT05938283
Summary
This small pilot study aimed to see if a larger trial is possible to compare two types of life-saving heart defibrillators. It involved 5 patients with a thickened heart muscle condition (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) who needed a defibrillator but not a pacemaker. The goal was to check if a newer, leadless device under the skin (S-ICD) causes fewer problems than the traditional wired version (TV-ICD).
