Heart procedure breakthrough could ditch general anesthesia

NCT ID NCT06007872

Summary

This study is testing if a different type of heart ultrasound, done from inside the heart, can safely guide the placement of a device that helps prevent strokes in people with a common heart rhythm problem. The goal is to see if this new method works as well as the current standard, which requires putting a probe down the throat and often general anesthesia. If successful, it could make the procedure simpler, safer, and more comfortable for patients.
