Heart device trial aims to curb dangerous rhythms and save battery

NCT ID NCT04172883

Summary

This study tested if a special pacing feature in heart devices could slow the progression of atrial fibrillation (AF), a serious irregular heartbeat, in Indian patients. It compared two settings for the feature: one designed to save battery life and another based on a previous European trial. The goal was to see if the battery-saving setting worked as well at preventing AF from becoming long-lasting.
