New heart attack treatments aim to save lives and prevent future hospitalizations

NCT ID NCT04775914

Summary

This study is testing whether two different techniques during emergency heart attack treatment can improve patient outcomes. The first technique involves carefully controlling blood flow back to the heart after opening a blocked artery. The second uses ultrasound imaging during the procedure to better guide artery repair. Researchers aim to see if these approaches reduce deaths, future heart attacks, or hospitalizations for heart failure in 2,500 participants.
