Drug tested to shrink heart attack scars

NCT ID NCT07325955

Summary

This study looked at whether a drug called trimetazidine could reduce permanent scarring in the heart after a major heart attack (STEMI). Researchers observed 194 patients who had received standard emergency treatment to open their blocked artery. They used heart scans to measure if taking the drug for six months resulted in less scar tissue.
