Simple blood test may predict heart attack damage
NCT ID NCT07261514
Summary
This study looked at 674 patients who had a major heart attack (STEMI) to see if a simple blood test, called the TyG index, could predict how much damage their heart sustained. Researchers measured heart damage using detailed MRI scans about a week after the heart attack and tracked patients for future heart problems. They found that a higher TyG index was linked to more severe heart damage and a higher risk of future complications like another heart attack or heart failure.
