Asthma pill could be new lifesaver after heart attacks

Summary
This study is testing if montelukast, a common asthma and allergy medication, can help protect the heart in people who have just had a severe type of heart attack (anterior STEMI). Researchers want to see if giving this drug alongside standard stent treatment can reduce heart damage and prevent the heart from weakening and enlarging over time. The trial will enroll 512 patients who receive the drug or a placebo and track their heart structure and function using MRI scans over 24 weeks.
