Shockwave vs. balloon: the battle to clear clogged heart arteries
NCT ID NCT07388030
Summary
This large study aims to find the best way to treat people with severe calcium buildup in their heart arteries before placing a stent. Researchers will compare two methods for breaking up the calcium (a shockwave device vs. standard balloons) and two methods for guiding stent placement (high-resolution imaging vs. standard X-rays). The goal is to see which combination leads to fewer serious heart problems, like heart attacks or repeat procedures, over three years.
