First seen Nov 06, 2025 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether it's possible and acceptable to screen for hearing loss in the emergency department (ED). Researchers tested 133 veterans with mild hearing problems to see if using a hearing device helped them communicate with doctors and understand their discharge instructions. The goal was to gather information to help decide if routine hearing screening in the ED is worthwhile.
