New electrode placement could boost cochlear implant results

Summary

This study tests whether placing a ground electrode near a nerve behind the ear during cochlear implant surgery works as well as the standard placement. Twelve adults getting a cochlear implant will participate. The goal is to see if this new approach can improve speech understanding in noisy environments.
