First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether a one-month treatment combining the drug clemastine fumarate with engineered sound can improve the ability to hear speech in background noise for adults aged 45-65 with age-related central auditory processing disorder (CAPD). About 344 participants will be randomly assigned to one of four groups: drug plus sound, placebo plus sound, drug plus white noise, or placebo plus white noise. The main goal is to see if the treatment improves hearing-in-noise test scores after 30 days.
