Can taxes and warning labels on junk food in online stores make us healthier?

NCT ID NCT07422922

Summary

This study aims to see if a combination of policies—like taxes on ultra-processed foods, warning labels, and healthier checkout options—in online grocery and restaurant platforms can help people make better food choices. Researchers will recruit 300 adults with lower incomes to shop online for six weeks, testing if these rules increase healthy purchases and reduce unhealthy ones, even when faced with ads for junk food. The goal is to find policies that could help prevent diet-related chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
