Summary

This study tested whether special placemats and a reward card could encourage children ages 4-8 to pick healthier kids' meals at quick-service restaurants. 241 families visited six restaurant locations over two months. Some restaurants used placemats promoting healthier options and a card that earned a free meal after six healthy purchases; others used generic placemats and cards for any meal. Researchers measured what kids ordered and ate to see if the program improved diet quality.
