Scientists test new weapon to boost cancer treatment

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether adding an experimental drug called berzosertib to standard chemotherapy (cisplatin) and radiation can better treat advanced head and neck cancer. The main goals are to find the safest and most effective dose of this new combination and to understand its side effects. The study enrolled 43 adults with cancer that has spread to nearby tissues but not to distant parts of the body.
