Radiation planning battle: which method spares patients from debilitating dry mouth?

NCT ID NCT03552965

Summary

This study aimed to see if a newer method for planning radiation therapy could reduce a common and distressing side effect—severe dry mouth—for patients with head and neck cancer. It compared two planning techniques in 23 patients to see which one better preserved saliva gland function and quality of life over a year. The goal was to gather information to design better future studies on improving patient comfort during cancer treatment.
