10,000 heart patients enrolled in quest to predict sudden death
NCT ID NCT07336290
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This observational study will enroll 10,000 adults with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a condition where the heart muscle thickens. Researchers will combine genetic tests, advanced heart imaging, and blood markers to create better tools for early diagnosis and to predict risks like sudden cardiac death or heart failure. Participants will be followed every six months for up to three years. No drugs or devices are being tested.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to better ways to diagnose HCM and predict who is at risk of sudden cardiac death or heart failure.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not directly change patient care, and results may take years to apply in practice.
