Blood sugar test may predict kidney damage after bypass surgery

NCT ID NCT07445997

First seen Mar 04, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study is observing 200 adults having planned coronary artery bypass surgery to see if their preoperative HbA1c (a measure of average blood sugar) and kidney blood flow measurements can predict acute kidney injury after surgery. Researchers will measure HbA1c from blood samples and use ultrasound to check kidney resistance before and after the operation. The goal is to better understand who is at risk for kidney complications, not to test a new treatment.
