Could a simple numbing shot make gynecologic procedures less painful?

NCT ID NCT07178379

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving local anesthesia (a numbing medicine) before a hysteroscopy can lower the pain women feel during the procedure. About 70 women who have never had a hysteroscopy will be randomly assigned to receive either the numbing medicine or a placebo (salt water). The goal is to see if the numbing medicine makes the procedure more comfortable and reduces the need for pain medicine afterward.
