Handmade IUD offers hope for women who reject standard devices
NCT ID NCT07518693
First seen Apr 13, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tested a specially designed, frameless IUD in 15 women who were at high risk of having a regular IUD fall out. The device was handmade by combining parts of two existing IUDs. Researchers wanted to see if it stayed in place and helped control symptoms like heavy bleeding and pelvic pain. The study was small and looked back at medical records, so more research is needed.
