First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests a new approach to hand and arm transplantation for people who have lost a hand or arm due to injury. The goal is to help the body accept the new limb while using much lower doses of anti-rejection drugs, which can cause serious side effects like infection and cancer. Up to 30 participants will receive a transplant and be followed for five years to see if the hand survives and how much medication is needed.
