Better pain relief after hand surgery? study tests two nerve block techniques

NCT ID NCT04960046

Summary

This study compared two different ways to place pain-relief catheters near nerves for patients having hand surgery. Researchers tested 140 patients to see if a newer technique provides better pain control 48 hours after surgery compared to the standard method. Both approaches use ultrasound to place tiny catheters that deliver numbing medication, but they target slightly different areas near the collarbone.
