New hand therapy may ease pain for arthritis patients with sensitive nerves

NCT ID NCT07598240

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether adding desensitization exercises to the usual hand rehab program can help rheumatoid arthritis patients who have central sensitization—a condition where the nervous system is extra sensitive to pain. About 81 adults with mild-to-moderate RA will be split into two groups based on their central sensitization status. The goal is to see if the extra exercises improve pain, hand strength, and daily function better than standard rehab alone.
