Hair salons become health clinics in groundbreaking community trial
NCT ID NCT04222504
Summary
This study is testing whether offering health services in hair salons makes it easier for women to access important preventive care. Researchers are providing HIV prevention medication (PrEP), birth control options, and STI screening in two salons in Umlazi, South Africa, while comparing results to a salon offering no services. The goal is to see if this convenient, community-based approach helps more women protect their sexual health.
