New pill aims to regrow hair in autoimmune hair loss

NCT ID NCT07023302

Summary

This study is testing whether a daily pill called upadacitinib can help regrow hair in people with severe alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition that causes patchy or total hair loss. It will involve about 123 teenagers and adults in Japan who have lost at least 25% of their scalp hair. Participants will take either the active drug or a placebo (a dummy pill) for up to two years to see how well the drug works and how safe it is.
