Study halted early: new approach tested to shield kids from transplant complications

NCT ID NCT05579769

Summary

This study tested a new plan for medications given after a bone marrow transplant to prevent a serious complication called graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). It involved children and young adults with blood cancers who received a transplant from a matched donor. The main goal was to see if stopping a specific type of immune-suppressing drug early (after 60 days) could still prevent severe GVHD while potentially reducing side effects.
