Scientists test gut hormones to protect bones in children with rare muscle diseases

NCT ID NCT07254988

Summary

This study aims to understand if two natural gut hormones, GIP and GLP-2, can help slow down bone loss in children with spinal muscular atrophy, cerebral palsy, or Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Researchers will measure bone health markers in the blood of 8 children who use wheelchairs due to their condition. The goal is to gather knowledge that could inform future treatments for bone problems in these disorders.
