Summary

This study looked at how heavy alcohol use changes the bacteria living in the mouth and gut. Researchers followed 23 adults going through alcohol detox to see if these bacteria change during treatment. Participants provided stool and mouth samples and answered questions about their health and diet. The goal was to learn more about these bacteria to help treat alcohol dependence in the future.
