Scientists probe hidden gut troubles in complex heart patients
NCT ID NCT06731322
Summary
This study aimed to understand how a specific heart surgery, called the Fontan operation, might affect gut health, cause body-wide inflammation, and lead to nutritional problems in adults. Researchers compared 52 adults who had this surgery to healthy adults, measuring blood markers, body composition, and doing scans. The goal was to gather knowledge to potentially improve long-term care for these patients.
