Scientists probe Gut's role in aging brain for diabetes patients
NCT ID NCT04841668
Summary
This study aims to understand the connection between gut health and brain function in older adults with type 2 diabetes. Researchers will follow 136 participants for a year to see if the common diabetes medication metformin changes the mix of gut bacteria and, in turn, affects memory and thinking skills. The study is observational and is designed to gather information, not to provide a direct treatment benefit to participants.
