Scientists probe hidden cost of Kids' antibiotics: gut health

NCT ID NCT05319067

Summary

This study aims to understand how long-term, low-dose antibiotics affect the diversity of gut bacteria in young children (aged 1-3 years) with a specific kidney condition. Researchers will compare stool samples from three groups: children taking the antibiotics, children with the same condition not taking the drugs, and healthy children. The goal is to gather knowledge about potential side effects of this common treatment on a child's developing gut microbiome.
