Scientists probe hidden gut impact of common medical procedure
NCT ID NCT07439640
Summary
This study aims to understand how the laxative used to clean the bowel before a colonoscopy affects the community of bacteria living in the gut, especially in people who have had their gallbladder removed. Researchers will compare 10 people who have had gallbladder surgery with 10 similar people who have not. They will collect stool samples before and for six months after the colonoscopy to see if the gut bacteria recover differently between the two groups.
