Could a gut bug be the key to shedding pounds?
NCT ID NCT07331974
Summary
This study is testing whether a daily supplement containing a specific gut bacteria (Akkermansia muciniphila) can help people who are overweight or obese lose weight and improve related health markers like cholesterol and blood sugar. About 200 participants will take either the supplement or a placebo (a dummy pill) daily for three months. Researchers will track changes in body weight, BMI, and analyze blood and stool samples to see how the supplement works.
