Gut bacteria fat factory: tiny helpers make health-boosting lipids from food
NCT ID NCT06313606
First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 29, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested whether eating certain dietary fats can trigger gut bacteria to produce special fats called cyclopropane fatty acids (CpFAs), which may help regulate blood sugar and liver health. Ten healthy adults ate specific fats, and researchers measured CpFA levels in their blood, urine, and stool. The goal was to see if this natural process can be enhanced through diet.
