Scientists hunt for gut clues to mysterious eye disease

NCT ID NCT01859299

Summary

This study aimed to understand if the natural bacteria in a person's gut are related to uveitis, a group of inflammatory eye diseases. Researchers compared stool and blood samples from 131 adults with uveitis to samples from healthy adults without the condition. The goal was to gather knowledge, not to provide any treatment, to see if differences in gut bacteria could help explain what causes these eye inflammations.
