Can a gut bug and plant pill fix night shift health risks?
NCT ID NCT07440147
Summary
This study is testing whether a combination of a specific gut bacteria (Akkermansia muciniphila) and a plant compound called berberine can improve how the body handles blood sugar in night shift workers. It involves 200 participants who will take either the supplement or a placebo for 12 weeks each, with a break in between. The main goal is to see if this combination can reduce insulin resistance, a key factor in developing diabetes and other metabolic problems common in shift workers.
