Could a deep dental clean ease arthritis pain?
NCT ID NCT05880303
Summary
This study tested whether professional dental cleaning (nonsurgical periodontal therapy) could help people who have both rheumatoid arthritis and serious gum disease. Researchers wanted to see if reducing gum inflammation would also lower body-wide inflammation, potentially improving arthritis symptoms and quality of life. They measured arthritis activity, specific blood markers, mouth bacteria, and patient-reported well-being before and after the dental treatment.
