New gum patch tested to avoid painful palate surgery

NCT ID NCT07437417

Summary

This study is comparing two surgical methods to treat receding gums in people who have had orthodontic treatment (braces). The standard method uses a small graft of tissue taken from the roof of the patient's mouth. The new method uses a ready-made collagen patch instead, which avoids creating a second surgical wound. Researchers want to see if the new patch works as well as the traditional graft for covering exposed tooth roots and thickening the gum tissue.
