Gum recession showdown: which treatment covers roots best?

NCT ID NCT03675334

First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested two ways to treat gum recession: using a piece of the patient's own tissue (connective tissue graft) or a special pig-derived collagen sheet (Mucoderm). Both were placed under the gum to cover exposed tooth roots. The trial included 18 adults with at least 3mm of gum recession on both sides of the mouth. The goal was to see if the collagen sheet works as well as the standard tissue graft, without needing a second surgical site.
