Gum fix showdown: own tissue vs. Lab-Made graft for implant recession
NCT ID NCT05729607
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two surgical methods to treat gum recession around dental implants in the front of the mouth. One method uses a small piece of tissue from the patient's own palate, while the other uses a lab-made dermal matrix combined with an enamel protein derivative. The goal is to see which approach better covers the exposed implant and improves gum appearance. The trial will enroll 28 adults with healthy gums and a single implant in the front teeth area.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
dermal matrix and enamel matrix derivative
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a less invasive option for fixing gum recession around dental implants, avoiding the need to take tissue from the patient's own palate.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 28 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The new method may not work as well as the standard graft, and there is a risk of infection or poor healing.
