Summary

This study tested whether guided relaxation or acupuncture can help reduce chronic pain and opioid use in people with sickle cell disease. About 379 adults with sickle cell disease and chronic pain took part across three hospitals. Participants were randomly assigned to receive guided relaxation, acupuncture, or usual care, and researchers measured changes in pain, mood, and daily function after 6 weeks.
