Summary

This study is testing whether a medication called guanfacine can help people with moderate to severe alcohol use disorder drink less. 200 participants will take either the medication or a placebo pill for 12 weeks, with all visits and monitoring done remotely via telehealth. Researchers will track daily drinking, stress, and cravings to see if the drug helps control the urge to drink, especially in stressful situations.
