Blood pressure drug may curb alcohol cravings in stressed patients

Summary
This study tests whether guanfacine, a blood pressure medication, can reduce alcohol consumption in people with alcohol use disorder. Researchers will see how the drug affects drinking after stress or stimulation, and whether it works differently in men versus women. About 160 adults aged 21–70 who drink heavily will participate.
