Patient's own immune cells take on head and neck cancer in new trial
NCT ID NCT06190275
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early study tests a new treatment called GT201, made from a patient's own tumor-fighting immune cells (TILs), combined with a PD-1 inhibitor drug. The goal is to see if this combination is safe and tolerable for 32 adults with advanced head and neck cancer that has returned or spread. The trial has two phases: first finding the right dose, then expanding to see how well it works.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
GT201 (tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes) combined with a PD-1 inhibitor
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a new treatment option for advanced head and neck cancer that uses the patient's own immune cells to fight tumors.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small trial (32 people) focused on safety, not proof of effectiveness. The combination therapy may cause severe side effects, and it's unknown if it will shrink tumors or improve survival.
