NCT ID NCT06931093
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new group therapy for adolescents aged 10-18 with complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD). The therapy, called GWE-C, involves 7-10 sessions where teens write about their trauma in a guided, structured way. 120 participants will be randomly assigned to either GWE-C or supportive therapy, and their symptoms will be tracked for 3 months after treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Group Guided Written Exposure Therapy for CPTSD (GWE-C)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide an effective, group-based therapy option for adolescents with complex PTSD, reducing symptoms like emotional distress and negative self-concept.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-stage trial (120 participants) and the therapy is new for this age group. Results may not apply to all teens, and the therapy requires strong literacy skills.
