Can a grocery card keep you out of the hospital?

NCT ID NCT07215897

Summary

This study is testing whether providing a monthly food card to low-income adults who have a chronic health condition and struggle to afford food can improve their health. Nearly 7,000 participants were randomly assigned to receive either a monthly food card or a single payment at the end of a year. Researchers will check if the monthly support reduces food insecurity, improves diet, and leads to fewer emergency room visits and hospital stays.
