Can feeling thankful make pain hurt less? science investigates

NCT ID NCT06317844

Summary

This study aimed to understand if a short writing exercise about gratitude could change how people feel and cope with brief, experimental pain. Researchers had 145 healthy adults write about things they were grateful for or about neutral topics, then tested their pain tolerance by having them put their hand in cold water. They also checked if a person's genes influenced the results.
