New gout drug shows promise in major trial

Summary
This study tested whether a new medication called ABP-671 is safe and effective at lowering uric acid in people with gout. It involved 300 adults and compared different doses of ABP-671 against a placebo (inactive pill) and a standard gout medicine (allopurinol). The main goal was to see how many people could get their uric acid levels below a target that helps prevent painful gout flares.
