New drug combo aims to lower uric acid in stubborn gout cases

NCT ID NCT07362355

First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a new drug (SHR4640) to a standard gout medication (febuxostat) works better than increasing the dose of febuxostat alone for people with gout and high uric acid. About 340 adults whose uric acid is still too high on 40 mg of febuxostat will take either the combination or a higher dose of febuxostat for 12 weeks. The main goal is to see if more people reach a healthy uric acid level with the combination.
