New study probes hidden link between diabetes, fatty liver, and heart risk
NCT ID NCT07246421
First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looks at how the body responds to glucagon, a hormone that helps control blood sugar and fat burning, in people with type 2 diabetes. Researchers want to see if glucagon resistance is linked to fatty liver disease and heart problems. About 24 adults with type 2 diabetes will have scans, blood tests, and fat biopsies to measure liver fat and how the body processes fats. The goal is to better understand these connections, not to test a new treatment.
